Beauty and health all from the hive

Who would have thought an insect would make you healthy, look great, make your skin smooth and supple, and add yummy to your food! Well honey bees do just that!

We need honey bees to help pollinate fruit trees, berries, vegetables as well as create nuts and berries from trees and bushes to feed wildlife. And with out honey bees doing the pollination we would soon starve!

But honey bees do more than that. When they collect nectar and pollen they will take it back to their hives and the many bees in the hives will store the pollen and move the nectar to create honey. They then will use the pollen and honey to make bee bread to feed the baby bees to keep the hive going. They use honey to make wax chips that they will move to make the honey comb to store the honey in and cap it when the cells are full. It takes 6-8 lbs of honey consumed by the bees to make 1 pound of wax! Thankfully honey bees are natural horders. They know how important honey and wax is to the survival of the hive. The beekeepers will need to remove the excess to allow the queen room to lay eggs. So by removing the excess it helps the queen but also helps the beekeeper and YOU!

Honey and beeswax are natural humectants and will draw moisture and hold it in. All of my hand, face and body creams and lip balms contain beeswax and you will feel how smooth your skin and lips are just after one use.

Honey can be used as a facial mask and put in your hair prior to showering to keep your skin and hair from drying out. Put honey on your face and spread evenly, you will feel it drawing in right away. Wait for about 10-15 minutes than wash off with warm water. You can also mix a little honey with water to use as a face wash too. Putting honey on your hair and again leaving for about 10 minutes will leave your hair smooth and shinny as will as keeping it from drying out. Rinse off and shampoo afterwards.

I’ll soon have a line of beard balm for men too. Their beards need tender moisture too.
